I have a challenge for you.
It’s day 13 now in Blogmas and I am slowly (finally) coming to the realisation that although Christmas is coming, so is new years. That means a new start a fresh start, new goals, aspirations. Many of us are just rushing through the festive season and losing site of some of the important things like challenging yourself, trying new things, doing something different. As the 31st of December arrives what will you be looking back on in pride and thinking ‘you know what this, year has been incredible, I’ve done that, and I’m glad.’
Even if right now you can name many things that you’ve done that you’re proud of, did it occur to you to ever think look back on them and remember them? I would argue probably not what will all the hectic rush surrounding Christmas. So my challenge to you is regardless of whatever you have done in 2016, there are 19 days left of 2016. 19 days full of opportunity, chances for you to grasp. 19 more reminders that you’re going to do something , special, worthwhile, that you will look back on.
Now I’m asking you to challenge yourself, you take it whatever way you want to take it; climbing mount everest, volunteering at an elderly home, visiting a neighbour, making cookies with the kids next door, socialising at a party, taking up sculpting. Whatever you would consider a challenge and something you wouldn’t usually do. I know you’re probably thinking that you’ve already got enough on your plate during December but like I always remind myself; if somethings important you’ll find a way, if not you’ll find an excuse.
Make this challenge something important to, to help build you as a person and character. Maybe you want to conquer a fear: a fear of public speaking, a fear of going somewhere, speaking to someone. People say there are many obstacles standing in the way, blocking their path or even simply making it a bit rocky. That;’s what stops them from doing something, but once you realise that the biggest obstacle standing in your way is the one looking back at you in the mirror. You can do anything.
