Exercises For On The Go

As it is the summer holidays, my sister and I have spent the last few weeks travelling from one location to another in the UK and whilst doing this we were thinking about how this can interrupt your workout routines. So to make sure we all upkeep some level of fitness (we don’t expect you to do a lot as you must still enjoy yourself!) we though we would share with you some exercises that require no equipment whatsoever so there are no excuses not to do them. IMG_20150817_183005

If you are lucky enough to stay in a hotel with a gym, devise a small workout schedule using those pieces of equipment so that you are able to keep your routine consistent. We find that the best time to train when on holiday is the morning because that way it is out of the way and you don’t have to worry about it through out the day. Though, if you are one of those people who generally wake up late then early afternoon around 2 hours after a good lunch would also be a good time. If you don’t feel like exercising whilst on holiday you don’t have to! You can also participate in fun activities such as swimming to keep the muscles in your body working and your heart rate high. The best thing about this is it doesn’t feel as if you are working out because you are surrounded by people who are just having fun so you will be enjoying yourself too. Just do a couple of laps of the pool and a nice splash and you won’t even realize the amount of calories you burn! Lastly, many hotels have a sauna or steam room, this is also great because you can relax in there, it does wonders for your body and mind.

You don’t always have to exercise in the gym or somewhere special, if you don’t have these facilities available there simple exercises you can do without any equipment. Simple excersizes such as squats, sit ups and push ups. These will work the main parts of your body and you can do it anywhere! When you wake up but don’t feel like getting out of bed then do a couple of crunches, lunge your way to the bathroom in the morning just be creative. So even when you are working out on holiday it won’t feel like a chore. Use the side of your bed or bath to do some tricep dips. If you are short on time you could even see how many squats, push ups or sit ups you can do in a minute, attempt to beat this time every day or even complete your squats whilst brushing your teeth. Try to do variations of these exercises to push yourself, you don’t want to get too used to the same movement.
