Peanut Butter Brownies!

Peanut Butter is our weakness. Brownies are probably second in the list, so we thought why not include both into a yummy peanut butter brownie recipe to share with you guys! This is probably one of our most favorite deserts, especially with ice cream. Granted it isn’t the healthiest, but a little slice won’t hurt anyone…20150623_191551-1

What you will need:

  • 200g dark chocolate20150621_183707-1
  • 4 eggs
  • 250g butter
  • 80g cocoa powder
  • 70g plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 340g caster sugar
  • 185g peanut butter
  • 120g icing sugar
  • 2tsp vanilla extract
  • 2tbsp milk
  • one pack of smarties or M&M’s (optional)

To begin preheat the oven to 280 degrees. Then, melt the dark chocolate and butter over a pan of boiling water in a bowl, once it has finally melted to a smooth runny consistency it can be left on the side to cool. Whilst it cools measure out the flour, sugar, baking powder and cocoa powder. Sieve the flour and cocoa powder into a bowl then combine the sugar and baking powder. Once a thick consistency is formed you then add in the melted butter and chocolate mixture in small equal portions whilst stirring with a wooden spoon or electric whisk. Once all ingredients have been fully combined you then add the eggs to finish off the brownie mixture.

Combine the peanut butter, icing sugar, vanilla extract and milk to form a soft dough. Mold or roll this dough to your preferable thickness and place on top of the first brownie layer. Now, on top of the peanut butter layer you can add the smarties or M&M’s, though this step is optional so you don’t have to unless you feel like being extra bad. Once the filling is complete you can now pour the remaining brownie mixture on top and leave in the oven for around 20-25 minutes until the top begins to harden, do not worry if it still looks runny as this is how it will look if you want the brownie more gooey. If you prefer it with a stiffer texture we recommend leaving it in the oven for an extra 5-10 minutes, then you’re done!20150623_191551-1IMG_20150705_102005

So now it’s the hard part, you have to try and resist temptation to eat it as soon as it comes out the oven and wait for around 10 minutes so it’s still warm but not too runny. once cooled down either enjoy it on it’s own or even with ice cream. We would love to know how your brownie turned out and how you chose to enjoy it on cheat day. But do remember your portion sizes and only on cheat day! You can also balance it out by making our healthy dinner we posted earlier this week. We hope you enjoyed this yummy dessert and are curious to know if you would like to see more recipe posts, so make sure to let us know in the comments below!
